Daniel Levy is a Professor of Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology at Boston University's Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine and Director of the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. He earned his BA from the University of Pennsylvania (1976) and MD from Boston University (1980). His research integrates human genetics, genomics, and cardiovascular epidemiology to investigate the genetic architecture of cardiovascular disease, including genome-wide interaction analyses of dietary effects on blood pressure, epigenetic age mediation of cardiovascular risk, and proteomic risk stratification for heart failure mortality. He also studies inbreeding coefficients via identity-by-descent estimation and mitochondrial variants in Parkinson's disease. Levy has secured multi-million-dollar NIH funding and collaborates extensively with institutions across the US, Europe, and Australia.
