Brian Coffman is an Adjunct Lecturer III at the University of New Mexico. His research focuses on cognitive neuroscience and biological psychiatry, specifically investigating auditory sensory processing deficits in schizophrenia and first-episode psychosis using EEG and MEG neuroimaging. His recent work identifies biomarkers such as mismatch negativity, auditory steady-state responses, and long-latency evoked potentials to predict symptom recovery and treatment response. He has published extensively on aberrant cortical-subcortical-cerebellar circuitry in early psychosis and leads international collaborations across the US, Europe, and Asia. He received a 2013 award for transcranial direct current stimulation research in fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.
