Zhenfei Liu is an Associate Professor at Wayne State University. He earned his B.S. in chemistry from Peking University (2007) and his Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry from the University of California at Irvine (2012), followed by postdoctoral work at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research focuses on first-principles many-body perturbation theory for heterogeneous interfaces, including the electronic structure and optical properties of CdS quantum dots, ligand exchange and surface passivation mechanisms, and generalized substrate screening GW approaches for covalently bonded interfaces. He also investigates hydrogen isotope exchange pathways using CdS quantum dot photocatalysts and binding at Au electrode interfaces. Liu received the NSF CAREER Award (2021) for developing dielectric embedding many-body perturbation theory. His international collaborations span institutions in the US, Israel, China, France, South Korea, Denmark, Hong Kong, and Japan.
