Yuan Qi is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on tumor biology, oncogenes, and molecular mechanisms driving breast cancer, particularly triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and inflammatory breast cancer. Recent breakthroughs include identifying C15ORF48-mediated mitochondrial ROS regulation in basal cell subpopulations that confers chemotherapy resistance in TNBC (Science Advances, 2026), and demonstrating that combined MCL-1 and MEK inhibition overcomes resistance in TNBC (Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, 2025). His work also explores mutant p53-driven metabolic reprogramming, ferroptosis evasion, and ARID4B-mediated immune escape in ovarian cancer. He investigates stromal fibroblastic Trp53 mutations and paracrine signaling in mammary tumor development, with publications in npj Breast Cancer and Cancer Research.
