Yanping Zhu is a Senior Professor at Montana Technological University. His research centers on structural engineering and advanced construction materials, with a specific focus on ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), engineered cementitious composites (ECC), and composite structures. His recent work includes experimental investigations into the flexural failure and fatigue performance of ECC, the post-high-temperature mechanical properties of UHPC with polypropylene fibers and bauxite aggregates, and the development of a generative adversarial network-enhanced ensemble learning model to predict the moment improvement of UHPC-strengthened damaged RC beams. He also employs micromechanical modeling and acoustic emission analysis to study tensile and cracking behavior, alongside nondestructive SWIR spectroscopy for detecting alkali-silica reaction products.
