Liuqing Yang is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research integrates cell, molecular, and tumor biology to investigate oncogenic signaling, gene expression regulation, and anti-tumor immunity. Recent breakthroughs include demonstrating that sickle cell disease induces chromatin introversion and ferroptosis in CD8+ T cells to suppress anti-tumor immunity (Immunity, 2025), and elucidating FGFR3-induced Y158 PARP1 phosphorylation that promotes PARP inhibitor resistance via BRG1/MRE11-mediated DNA repair in breast cancer models (Journal of Clinical Investigation, 2025). Her work also spans snoRNA pharmacogenomics across human cancers, PVT1-mediated immune exclusion in pancreatic cancer, and lncRNA-IL-15 crosstalk in NK cell rejuvenation. She has secured major funding, including a $1.2 million award for cotargeting lncRNA-PIP3 interactions and AKT/PI3K signaling in triple-negative breast cancer.
