Xiaolin Nan is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Science University. He earned his doctorate in biophysics, with research spanning super-resolution microscopy, molecular biology, and biomolecular engineering. His current work focuses on developing advanced imaging technologies, including photocatalytic strategies for light-driven spatial proteomics, label-free Raman spectroscopy integrated with machine learning for early cancer detection, and multiplexed DNA-PAINT nanoscopy for millimeter-scale fluorescence imaging. His recent breakthroughs include a phosphoinositide switch mediating exocyst recruitment for exosome secretion and dimeric IgA-based targeting of intracellular oncoproteins for epithelial cancer control, published in Nature Communications and Immunity, respectively. He also investigates multispectral localized surface plasmon resonance to overcome spectral heterogeneities of single gold nanoparticles for enhanced molecular sensing.
