Alexandra Wright is a Senior Professor at California State University, Los Angeles. Her research integrates plant ecology, botany, and community ecology to examine how climate change—particularly drought and rising atmospheric vapour pressure deficit—affects biodiversity and ecosystem function. Her recent work, published in venues such as *Trends in Ecology & Evolution* and *Plant, Cell & Environment*, advances nature-based solutions by linking plant traits, microclimate, and complementarity in ecological restoration. She has pioneered experimental methods using silica gel packets to simulate atmospheric drought in mesocosms, and her 2023 *BioScience* paper argues for incorporating atmospheric drying into drought experiments. Her research agenda also critiques dominant ecological theories, promoting more inclusive frameworks for understanding natural systems.
