William Fraser Symmans is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on breast cancer biology, neoadjuvant therapy response prediction, and the development of the Residual Cancer Burden (RCB) index for prognostic assessment. His recent work includes validating RCB in invasive lobular carcinoma, evaluating surrogate endpoints for survival in neoadjuvant trials, and investigating immune subtyping to identify hormone receptor-positive patients who benefit from immunotherapy, as demonstrated in the I-SPY2 trial analyses. He also contributes to pre-analytical standards for RNA sequencing from small biopsies. His publications appear in leading journals including the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Annals of Oncology, reflecting his influence on precision oncology and treatment optimization for early-stage breast cancer.
