William Ampomah is an Associate Professor at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. His research integrates petroleum geoscience, reservoir engineering, and environmental science, focusing on carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and underground hydrogen storage. His recent work includes techno-economic and life cycle assessments of integrated carbon capture in hydrogen production, geochemical interactions and reservoir integrity in CO2 storage within the San Andres Formation, and data-driven site selection based on CO2 injectivity in the San Juan Basin. He also investigates multiphase flow dynamics, including hydrogen-brine relative permeability and caprock integrity under stress-induced changes.
