Wieslaw Maslowski is a Research Professor at the Naval Postgraduate School, where he specializes in high-latitude oceanography, sea ice dynamics, and Arctic climate modeling. His research integrates coupled regional and Earth system models to investigate cryosphere-ocean-atmosphere interactions, with a particular focus on the Barents and Kara Seas, pan-Arctic circulation, and seasonal-to-decadal sea ice predictability. Recent work includes leading the development of the E3SM-Arctic regionally refined coupled model, advancing dynamical downscaling techniques for sub-seasonal Arctic summer sea ice forecasts, and contributing to the MOSAiC Distributed Network observational synthesis. His externally funded projects, supported by over $2 million in recent awards, address Arctic cyclones, harmful algal blooms in the Pacific Arctic, and eddy-resolving ocean-sea ice modeling. Maslowski’s research bridges high-resolution modeling and observational campaigns to improve Arctic climate projection capability.
