Vishwanath Venketaraman is a Senior Professor at Western University of Health Sciences. His research focuses on infectious diseases, specifically pulmonary tuberculosis, HIV-TB co-infection, and host-pathogen interactions. He investigates immune responses and redox regulation, particularly the role of glutathione in modulating immune dysfunction in tuberculosis, COVID-19, and HIV. His recent work explores glutathione-mediated therapeutic strategies, the immunopharmacological implications of glutathione in neurodegenerative diseases, and emerging interventions for diabetic foot ulcers. He has published extensively on the efficacy of glutathione supplementation and the pathophysiology of mycobacterial infections, contributing to advances in clinical microbiology and immunology.
