Valerae O. Lewis, M.D., is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on surgical oncology for sarcoma, specifically extremity soft-tissue sarcoma reconstruction, hemipelvectomy for advanced pelvic malignancy, and the clinicopathologic characterization of osteoid osteoma and osteoblastoma. Her recent work includes leveraging FFPE single-nucleus RNA-sequencing for osteosarcoma, investigating sociodemographic disparities in pediatric osteosarcoma, and evaluating combined modality treatment for metastatic soft tissue sarcoma. She also studies comorbidity indices in orthopaedic oncology surgery.
