Teresa A. Zimmers is a Senior Professor at Oregon Health & Science University. Her research focuses on cancer biology, specifically pancreatic tumor biology, cancer cachexia, and the molecular mechanisms of muscle wasting. Her recent work has identified sympathetic nerve–fibroblast crosstalk driving matrix remodeling in pancreatic cancer and demonstrated that high-fat diet and obesity increase tumor proliferation and muscle wasting. She has also investigated muscle-resident macrophages and GFRAL signaling in cachexia, publishing in venues including JCI Insight, Cancer Research, and the American Journal of Physiology-Cell Physiology.
