Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Department of Chemistry
Taketo Handa is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Department of Chemistry at Columbia University. His research focuses on advanced functional materials, applied physics, and solar energy conversion, with specific interests in crystal engineering and photovoltaics. Handa’s recent work includes the observation of coherent ferron emission and propagation, terahertz emission from giant optical rectification in van der Waals materials, and the coupling of electronic transitions to ferroelectric order in 2D semiconductors. His findings have been published in Nature Materials, Physical Review Letters, and Nature Communications. He also investigates Anderson localization in two-dimensional metals and giant optical spin-orbit interactions in ferroelectric van der Waals waveguides.
