Swaminathan P. Iyer is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on the clinical and translational immunology of hematological malignancies, particularly lymphoid neoplasia and leukemia. He specializes in developing and evaluating novel cellular therapies, including CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, and investigating infectious complications and immune effector cell toxicities, such as cytokine release syndrome and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. His recent work includes establishing a patient-derived xenograft repository capturing the molecular heterogeneity of large B-cell lymphoma, and leading phase 1 trials of combination regimens for AL amyloidosis. He also investigates investigational agents for cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and the mechanisms of CAR-T-driven enteritis.
