Sunil Krishnan is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he specializes in radiation oncology and cancer research. His work focuses on tumor radiosensitization using gold nanoparticles, nanomedicine, and the immunomodulatory effects of nanoparticle-based therapies. Recent breakthroughs include pioneering x-ray–excited photodynamic therapy using doped yttria nanoscintillators, which enables deep-tissue cancer treatment, and advancing strategies to improve tumoral gold uptake for clinical translation. His research also explores the unfolded protein response, senescence-targeted anti-inflammatory therapy, and Monte Carlo modeling of nanoparticle-mediated radiosensitization. He has published extensively in venues such as Science Advances, ACS Nano Medicine, and Nanomaterials, with ongoing efforts to bridge nanomedicine and radiation oncology for improved cancer treatment outcomes.
