Steven Lin is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, specializing in thoracic oncology and radiation oncology. His research focuses on lung and esophageal cancer, particularly radiation therapy, neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, and the tumor immune microenvironment. Recent breakthroughs include elucidating ubiquitination-directed cytosolic DNA degradation in cGAS-STING-mediated immune responses to DNA damage (Cancer Cell, 2026) and developing pretreatment risk models for radiation-induced lymphopenia to predict adjuvant durvalumab efficacy in unresectable stage III NSCLC. He has also investigated esophagectomy versus active surveillance in clinical complete responders and ferroptotic vulnerability in macrophages associated with adaptive radiation resistance in esophageal adenocarcinoma. His work spans international real-world studies on EGFR mutation patterns in early-stage NSCLC and immune checkpoint inhibitor-induced cardiovascular disease.
