Steven J. Frank is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on radiation oncology, specifically proton therapy for head and neck and prostate cancers, with emphasis on normal tissue complication probability modeling and linear energy transfer optimization. He recently led a multicentre, randomised phase 3 trial in The Lancet comparing proton versus photon radiotherapy for oropharyngeal cancer, and published work in JAMA Otolaryngology on osteoradionecrosis risk and hypoglossal neuropathy stratification. His team develops deep learning models for proton dose prediction and externally validated digital decision support tools for toxicity risk assessment.
