Steven I. Sherman is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he specializes in thyroid oncology and cancer research. His work focuses on the molecular mechanisms of thyroid carcinogenesis, particularly RET and RAS oncogene-driven pathways, and resistance mechanisms to targeted therapies. His recent publications investigate acquired driver fusions conferring resistance to selective RET inhibitors in medullary thyroid carcinoma, cabozantinib efficacy in radioiodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer by BRAF status, and the role of activating RET mutations in osteoblastic bone metastases. He has also contributed to clinical guidance on managing immune checkpoint inhibitor-related thyroid dysfunction and advancing care for NTRK fusion-positive thyroid carcinoma.
