Stephen E. Kurtz is a Research Associate Professor at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, School of Medicine, Oregon Health & Science University. His research focuses on the pharmacology of hematological malignancies, particularly acute myeloid leukemia (AML), drug resistance mechanisms, and myeloid neoplasia. Recent work includes a phase 1 trial of ruxolitinib plus venetoclax in relapsed/refractory AML, a CEBPB/IL-1β/TNF-α feedback loop driving resistance to venetoclax and MDM2 inhibitors in monocytic leukemia, and a rapid gene expression profiler predicting therapy responsiveness. He also studies oncogene-driven cell biology, immunology, and drug-response modeling in pharmacogenomic screens.
