Simona Colla is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on hematology, immunology, and the molecular pathogenesis of hematological malignancies, particularly myeloid neoplasia and leukemia. Her recent work has elucidated mechanisms of venetoclax resistance in acute myeloid leukemia, aberrant oxidative metabolism in TET2-deficient hematopoietic stem cells, and natural killer cell dysfunction in myelodysplastic syndromes. She has also investigated oncogene ablation-resistant pancreatic cancer and telomere biology disorders, publishing in venues including Nature, Nature Genetics, and Blood. Her integrative approaches to stratifying distinct disease phenotypes have advanced precision oncology, and her collaborative international research continues to shape the understanding of clonal evolution and immune escape in pre-malignant conditions.
