Shimin Hu is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on the pathology and genetics of hematological malignancies, particularly acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, and lymphoid neoplasia. Recent work employs optical genome mapping and targeted RNA-seq to characterize complex karyotypes, clonal heterogeneity, and gene rearrangements, including mechanisms of cyclin activation in mantle cell lymphoma and chromoanagenesis in refractory AML. He has also investigated atypical immunophenotypes in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and exceptional responses to tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy in chronic myeloid leukemia.
