Seyed Javad M. Moghaddam is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on lung cancer biology, tumor immunology, and thoracic oncology, with particular emphasis on the molecular mechanisms of oncogene-driven tumorigenesis and the tumor–microenvironment crosstalk driving non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) progression and therapy resistance. His recent work employs multimodal spatial-omics to trace the co-evolution of alveolar progenitors and proinflammatory niches during lung precursor lesion progression, and investigates the repurposing of macrolide antibiotics such as clarithromycin for lung cancer prevention. He has also explored cigarette smoke-induced angiogenic activation via endothelial microRNA dysregulation and nebulized pattern recognition receptor agonists for immunotherapy in influenza-associated pulmonary aspergillosis. His contributions appear in Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, Cancer Cell, and Communications Biology.
