Scott Woodman is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where his research focuses on oncology, cancer immunotherapy, and tumor biology. His work integrates molecular cancer research with translational immunology, particularly investigating melanoma, oncogene-driven tumor progression, and the tumor microenvironment. Recent breakthroughs include identifying distinct immune, mutation, and gut microbiome features associated with improved overall survival in newly diagnosed glioblastoma patients treated with anti-PD-L1 therapy, as well as developing explainable machine learning models to predict functional outcomes in stroke survivors. He has also contributed to comparative analyses of spatial transcriptomics platforms for formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tumors and explored molecular vulnerabilities in rare cancers using graph-based therapeutic discovery models. His publications span high-impact journals, including Nature Communications, Blood, and JAMA Network Open, reflecting his broad expertise across cancer immunotherapy, cytokine storm syndromes, and precision oncology.
