Satya Gontcho A Gontcho is an Assistant Professor of Astronomy at the University of Virginia. He earned a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Barcelona and a Master’s in High Energy Physics from Sorbonne University. His research focuses on observational cosmology, galaxy formation and evolution, and high-energy astrophysics, with particular emphasis on baryon acoustic oscillations, synchrotron radiation, and spectroscopic redshift catalogs. His recent work includes extensive analyses of DESI data, such as reconstruction algorithms for BAO, electron temperature abundances in star-forming galaxies, and the Milky Way stellar halo’s twisted structure. He contributes to major international collaborations, including DESI, advancing precision cosmology and extragalactic surveys.
