Sattva S. Neelapu is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, specializing in oncology, hematology, and cellular therapy. His research focuses on cancer immunotherapy for hematological malignancies, including CAR T-cell therapy for relapsed/refractory large B-cell lymphoma and leukemia. Recent work includes identifying endothelial–immune priming signatures predictive of severe cytokine release syndrome and neurotoxicity post-CAR T-cell infusion, evaluating allogeneic CAR T-cell products like cemacabtagene ansegedleucel, and analyzing long-term outcomes from the ZUMA-12 study of axicabtagene ciloleucel. He has also investigated cytomegalovirus infections after standard-of-care CD19 CAR T-cell therapy and the impact of venetoclax consolidation in AML. His contributions are recognized through awards, including a 2016 grant for correlative studies of a Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor in pancreatic cancer.
