Assistant Professor of Neurobiology in Psychiatry at the Columbia University Medical Center
Sarah Herzog is an Assistant Professor of Neurobiology (in Psychiatry) at the Columbia University Medical Center. Her research integrates biological psychiatry, neuroimaging, and ecological momentary assessment to investigate the neural and neuroinflammatory mechanisms underlying suicidal ideation and negative affect in major depression. Recent work employs PET imaging of translocator protein (TSPO) binding, stress-reactive cortisol assays, and recurrent neural network models to predict real-time suicide risk. Her findings have been published in Biological Psychiatry, JAMA Psychiatry, and Molecular Psychiatry.
