Sarah Averbach is a Senior Professor at the University of California, San Diego, specializing in obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive health. Her research focuses on contraceptive access, medication abortion, and the integration of family planning with maternal health services, particularly among underserved populations. Recent work examines gender-equitable attitudes and contraceptive outcomes in rural India, barriers to telemedicine contraception for Spanish-speaking patients, and the impact of the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling on abortion training in residency programs. She has led the CHARM2 trial, a cluster-randomized study on gender attitudes and reproductive coercion, and received funding to link postpartum contraception with infant vaccination services. Her extensive collaborations span institutions across the US, India, Uganda, Bangladesh, Canada, Ethiopia, the UK, South Korea, Nigeria, and Nepal.
