Sam Hanash is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on cancer biology, with particular emphasis on lung cancer and pancreatic cancer, integrating tumor biology, pathology, and cell biology. His recent work includes spatial and multiomics analyses of lung adenocarcinoma precursors, identifying TIM-3 as a target for precancer interception, and investigating blood-based protein biomarkers for early pancreatic cancer detection. He has also explored metabolic vulnerabilities in pancreatic cancers, such as long-chain sulfatide enrichment in IPMN-associated tumors, and mechanisms of acquired resistance to KRAS-targeted therapy in gastrointestinal cancers. His publications appear in leading journals including Cancer Cell, Gut, and the Journal of Thoracic Oncology.
