Rosa F. Hwang is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on the tumor microenvironment in pancreatic and breast cancer, particularly the role of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in chemoresistance and DNA repair. Her recent work identified NDRG1-mediated R-loop processing as a mechanism by which CAFs regulate DNA repair in pancreatic cancer, published in *Nature Cell Biology* (2026). She has also investigated de-escalation strategies for invasive breast cancer, including omitting breast surgery and sentinel lymph node biopsy, with findings published in *JAMA Oncology* and *Cancer*. Her research integrates surgical oncology, tumor biology, and translational approaches to improve therapeutic outcomes.
