Ron DePinho is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he leads a distinguished research program in cancer biology. His work focuses on oncogenes, tumor biology, and the molecular underpinnings of pancreatic cancer, with recent breakthroughs exploring KRAS-targeted therapy resistance, mitochondrial function in oncogene-ablation-resistant cells, and immunogenic cell death mechanisms. His latest publications include studies on viral mimicry in immunogenic cell death (PNAS, 2026), therapeutic targeting of the syndecan-1 axis in gastrointestinal cancers (Cell Reports Medicine, 2025), and epigenetic control of TERRA in telomerase-driven cancers (bioRxiv, 2025). A senior figure in oncology, his research integrates immunology and cell biology to advance cancer therapeutics.
