Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical Sciences in Medicine
Rocio Barragan-Arnal is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical Sciences (in Medicine) at Columbia University. Her research integrates genetic epidemiology, clinical nutrition, and biostatistics to investigate metabolic syndrome, obesity, and the molecular mechanisms of aging. Her latest work employs epigenome-wide analyses to explore how alcohol consumption, sleep restriction, and Mediterranean diet adherence influence DNA methylation and oxidative stress biomarkers. She also investigates gene–diet interactions, including polygenic risk scores for chronotype and their associations with glycemic outcomes in multi-ethnic cohorts. Her publications appear in venues such as *Antioxidants*, *Aging and Disease*, and *Nutrients*.
