Robert Dantzer is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. A pioneer in psychoneuroimmunology, his research investigates brain-immune interactions, focusing on how inflammation and neuroimmune signaling drive behavioral alterations in cancer, chronic fatigue, and psychiatric disorders. His recent work explores the metabolic basis of cancer-related fatigue, the role of FGF21 in exercise capacity, and the cGAS-STING pathway in murine models of head and neck cancer. He also investigates symptom persistence in long COVID and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, alongside clinical trials on IL-1 receptor antagonists for pain. His contributions bridge neuroscience, immunology, and oncology, advancing precision psychiatry and targeted therapeutic interventions.
