Rehan Akbani is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where his research integrates cancer genomics, tumor biology, and functional proteomics. His recent work includes identifying intratumoral bacteria as drivers of immunosuppression and immunotherapy resistance in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, developing high-throughput multi-organ proteomics workflows, and creating DrBioRight 2.0, an LLM-powered bioinformatics chatbot for large-scale cancer proteomics. He has also contributed to single-cell chromatin accessibility maps across eight tumor types and a protein expression atlas illuminating tumor heterogeneity. His research has been published in venues including Science, Nature Cancer, and Nature Communications, and he has received major grant funding for pan-GI adenocarcinoma analyses.
