Rakesh Tiwari is a Senior Professor at Western University of Health Sciences. His research focuses on peptide science, biomolecular engineering, and medicinal chemistry, with particular emphasis on cyclic antimicrobial peptides, membrane-active therapeutics, and peptide-based drug delivery systems. His recent work investigates stereochemical modifications to enhance the activity and selectivity of antibacterial and antifungal cyclic peptides, as well as combination therapies using [R4W4] with first-line agents against Mycobacterium avium. He has also explored the future applications of cyclic antimicrobial peptides in drug delivery and exosome-mediated mechanisms in breast cancer. His 2025 publications appear in journals including npj Antimicrobials and Resistance, Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, and Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery.
