Rachel M. Layman is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on breast oncology, specifically investigating molecular mechanisms in aggressive subtypes, including inflammatory breast cancer, and advancing targeted therapeutic strategies. Her recent work encompasses transcriptomic analyses of NDRG1 amplification, the therapeutic potential of AURKA inhibition, and the spatial distribution of CCR7 for therapeutic targeting. She has also led clinical trials evaluating novel combinations, such as gedatolisib plus fulvestrant and PROTAC estrogen receptor degraders, alongside real-world effectiveness studies of CDK4/6 inhibitors in metastatic breast cancer. Her contributions span translational pharmacology and precision cancer care, with findings published in venues including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer Research, and The Breast.
