Priya Rao is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she specializes in urologic oncology and genitourinary pathology. Her research focuses on renal medullary carcinoma, variant histology kidney cancers, and the pathological assessment of treatment response in renal cell carcinoma. Her recent work includes pioneering trials on immune checkpoint inhibitors combined with debulking surgery for metastatic renal cell carcinoma, as well as phase 1 studies evaluating sitravatinib with nivolumab and ipilimumab. She has contributed to international consensus guidelines on neoadjuvant therapy response sampling and the definition of indolent prostate cancer, with publications in Nature Communications, The Lancet Oncology, and European Urology.
