Peter Knappett is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at Texas A&M University. He earned an Honours Bachelor of Science (2001) and a Master of Applied Science (2006) from the University of Waterloo, and a PhD from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (2010). His research focuses on hydrogeochemical processes controlling arsenic and fluoride mobilization in aquifers, groundwater-surface water interactions in tidal floodplains, and nitrogen export dynamics in large watersheds. Recent work examines the dynamic iron curtain surrounding fluctuating rivers and its impacts on arsenic fate, with field sites spanning the Texas Gulf Coast, Bangladesh, and the Meghna River. He was a Marie Curie Post-doctoral Fellow at Helmholtz Center Munich and has held visiting professorships at Eawag, ETH Zurich. His collaborative network spans institutions across the US, Bangladesh, Mexico, China, India, Canada, Germany, Spain, the UK, and the Netherlands.
