Paul T. Spellman is a Professor of Molecular and Medical Genetics at Oregon Health & Science University. His research focuses on cancer genomics, tumor biology, and precision oncology, with particular emphasis on genomic evolution in cancer models, circulating tumor DNA dynamics, and epigenetic alterations in leukemogenesis. His recent work includes pioneering cell-free RNA detection for early pancreatic cancer diagnosis, integrative molecular characterization of organoid models from the Human Cancer Models Initiative, and methylation profiling preceding acute myeloid leukemia. He has been recognized with a major award for investigating molecular changes underlying breast cancer metastasis for risk stratification and therapeutic development, and his international collaborations advance functional drug discovery and precision health initiatives.
