Paul Kievit is a Senior Professor at Oregon Health & Science University, where his research integrates physiology, endocrinology, and developmental biology to investigate the metabolic and neuroendocrine origins of obesity. His recent work employs nonhuman primate models to examine how maternal Western-style diets program offspring health, including bile acid dysregulation, hepatic fibrosis, and immune tolerance via liver sinusoidal endothelial cell dysfunction. He also explores the neural mediators of energy balance through cross-species atlases of the dorsal vagal complex, alongside mitochondrial DNA dynamics in HIV pathogenesis. His latest publications span venues such as *The Journal of Infectious Diseases*, *Liver International*, and *Scientific Reports*, reflecting his translational focus on metabolism, immunology, and neuroscience.
