Patrick Durrell is a Professor and Distinguished Professor at Youngstown State University. His research centers on extragalactic and observational astronomy, with a specific focus on galaxy formation and evolution, galaxy clusters, and high-energy astrophysics. His recent work includes studying stellar populations in the extreme outer halo of the spiral galaxy M96, the spatial distribution of globular cluster systems in early-type galaxies, and the migration and merger of star clusters in dwarf galaxies. He has also contributed to the Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey, examining the morphological classification of Virgo Cluster galaxies and nuclear star clusters in dwarf galaxies. Durrell has received funding from the NSF RUI program for his search for Virgo's intracluster globular clusters.
