Augusto Ochoa is a High Senior Professor at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans. His research integrates immunology, cell biology, and tumor biology, focusing on cancer immunotherapy, cellular therapy, and metabolic reprogramming of immune responses. Recent breakthroughs include demonstrating that the medium-chain fatty acid receptor GPR84 modulates cytotoxic CD8 T-cell antitumor immunity via metabolic reprogramming (Cancer Immunology Research, 2026) and mapping spatially distinct cellular and molecular landscapes that define prognosis in triple-negative breast cancer (Cell Reports, 2025). His work also examines community factors influencing cancer screening and mortality (JAMA Network Open, 2025) and COVID-19 outcomes among cancer patients (Scientific Reports, 2025). He maintains active international collaborations addressing obesity, diabetes, and prostate cancer disparities in Louisiana cohorts.
