Niki M. Zacharias Millward is an Associate Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where her research focuses on the molecular pathogenesis of genitourinary malignancies, particularly kidney cancer, renal medullary carcinoma (RMC), and penile squamous cell carcinoma. Her recent work has identified TRIP13-mediated spindle assembly checkpoint deregulation as a driver of loss of heterozygosity in aggressive chromophobe renal cell carcinoma, and she has characterized immunogenomic determinants of exceptional responses to immune checkpoint inhibition in renal cell carcinoma. She has also led multi-institutional studies defining the clinical activity of EGFR blockade in SMARCB1-deficient RMC and has investigated HPV/p16INK4a prognostic significance in penile cancer. Her publications appear in Nature Cancer, Nature Communications, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
