Nelson Christensen is a High Senior Professor at Carleton College. His research focuses on gravitational-wave astronomy, including detector characterization for LIGO and Virgo, Bayesian inference for detector noise, and the search for gravitational-wave backgrounds from sources such as extragalactic double white dwarfs for LISA. His recent work also explores the potential of cosmic string signals in binary black hole mergers and the application of nonlinear noise regression techniques. He has published extensively in leading journals, including Physical Review D and Classical and Quantum Gravity, and collaborates internationally on LIGO, Virgo, and LISA projects.
