Neeta Somaiah is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she specializes in sarcoma oncology, radiation oncology, and cancer immunotherapy. Her research focuses on gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), liposarcoma biology, and tumor immunology, with recent work examining KIT exon 9 mutations and imatinib response prediction in PDGFRA-mutant GIST. She has led pivotal studies on adoptive T-cell therapy (letetresgene autoleucel) for myxoid/round cell liposarcoma and immune checkpoint blockade in dedifferentiated liposarcomas. Her latest publications include a spatially-resolved single-cell atlas of liposarcoma revealing lineage hierarchies and immune niches, plus innovative approaches to antibody-based immunotherapy and tumor collagen elimination in sarcoma models. Her work bridges translational pharmacology, surgical oncology, and precision cancer treatment.
