Namni Goel is a Senior Professor at Rush University, where her research integrates sleep medicine, chronobiology, biological psychiatry, and health sciences. Her work investigates the neurobiological underpinnings of sleep deprivation, circadian rhythm dysregulation, and their links to mental health, including bipolar spectrum disorders and mood disturbances. Recent studies employ multilevel modeling to examine reward and circadian mechanisms in psychiatric risk, explore dim light melatonin onset as a circadian biomarker, and assess how epinephrine and DNA damage markers predict cognitive and mood resilience during total sleep deprivation. Her translational research also addresses diabetes and insulin delivery, bridging sleep science with metabolic health.
