Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Medicine
Mustafa Yalcinkaya is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Medicine at Columbia University. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis, particularly the post-translational regulation of the NLRP3 inflammasome in clonal hematopoiesis, cholesterol crystal-induced inflammatory signaling, and macrophage efferocytosis. His recent work has delineated how COPI coatomer regulates HDL metabolism and how inflammatory crosstalk impairs phagocytic receptors during atherogenesis. He has published in the *Journal of Clinical Investigation* and the *Journal of Lipid Research*, and received a 2024 award for investigating NLRP3 deubiquitylation in *Tet2*-deficient models.
