Monika A. Waszczuk is an Associate Professor at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Her research integrates psychiatric genetics, developmental psychopathology, and behavioral sciences to examine the hierarchical structure of mental health and illness. Her recent work leverages large-scale biobank cohorts to map transdiagnostic symptom dimensions and their links to cognitive dysfunction, gray matter structure, and dementia risk in older adulthood. She also investigates post-traumatic stress disorder in longitudinal cohorts, including World Trade Center responders, and explores gene–environment interplay in adolescent health. Her contributions to the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) framework have advanced the characterization of emotional dysfunction superspectra, with publications in Nature Mental Health and Psychological Medicine.
