Minghui Diao is a Senior Professor at San Jose State University specializing in atmospheric science, with a focus on cloud physics, aerosol–cloud interactions, and high-latitude climate processes. Her recent research integrates in situ and satellite observations with machine learning to examine cloud phase partitioning, cirrus cloud properties, and aerosol indirect effects, including hemispheric asymmetries in mixed-phase clouds. She has also investigated Arctic cloud–radiation relationships using MOSAiC shipborne data and wildfire smoke impacts on respiratory and cardiovascular hospitalizations in California. Diao leads major funded projects, including a $850,000 award from the California Community and Earth-system Integrated Collaborative Resilience Center and a $629,187 DOE grant linking ARM measurements with climate model simulations. Her work advances understanding of cloud microphysics and supports equitable climate research partnerships.
